After spending time in Guangzhou, China, I then traveled to Hong Kong prior to catch a flight back to Jakarta with Cathay Pacific first class. Review vlog my first flight and will be published in the near future.

For lodging in Hong Kong, this time I chose InterContinental Hong Kong is one of the  flagship property of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).

This iconic hotel has long been included in the target for me because views of Victoria Harbor and buildings in Hong Kong was phenomenal and well-known since ancient times. Plus, have elite status with IHG also be a factor I chose to be faithful to the InterContinental.

Victoria Harbor views from the InterContinental Hong Kong.

IC Hong Kong formerly known as The Regent Hong Kong, which was later acquired by IHG in 2001. According to the plan, the hotel will start renovated in 2020 and closed to the public.

Later in 2021, IHG will restore the identity of this hotel back into Regent following the purchase of 51% shares of Regent by IHG.

This time, I decided to use 70,000 IHG Rewards Club points for stays at IC Hong Kong. Learn about redemption / booking can be read below.

InterContinental Hong Kong – InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong

There are 2 hotel InterContinental in Hong Kong, make sure you are not wrong in choosing the property. In my opinion, IC Hong Kong is far superior in terms of prestige , scenery, and service than Grand Stanford.

IC Grand Stanford has the price per night cheaper than the flagship IC Hong Kong. For the price point, IC Hong Kong require 70,000 points, while Grand Stanford requires 60,000 points per night.

I get the room type of swap points are the InterContinental Superior Room or room type most basic . However, due to the status of Elite Spire, my room was upgraded to Deluxe Room InterContinental wider.

Upgrade to room with views of Victoria Harbor can be obtained by paying HK $ 800 + 10% tax. But I personally think the price is less worth it  if only to get a view of the room.

Check in

Although look already with age and does not look modern, but the hotel is still in very well maintained condition. In my opinion, it was time for IHG to renovate this hotel in order to better compete with other hotels in Hong Kong.
